Sailing Parlay Revival
New Zealand
Приєднався 21 чер 2018
After working on super yachts as a chief engineer, I spend my life savings on a Lagoon 450 catamaran, damaged by Hurricane Irma. With no experience with Fibreglass whatsoever, me and a friend work tirelessly to get her ready to sail through the Caribbean.

UNBELIEVABLE: Great White Shark Literally Bites my Sailboat!! 😲 (Episode 266)
We sail from Dunedin to Stewart Island, and stop at Edwards Island where we happen to meet a cage diving boat. Next thing we know there are 5-7 great white sharks circling the boat, and one takes a little chunk out of our transom!
SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. We found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are now sailing across the Pacific Ocean!!

Very exciting. Well done.
Why would anyone think because of your Parents properties means you are wealthy? … Actually, you are wealthy, in life. Great family… you need to visit them more often. Nothing is more important than family. 💝
Your Father is so interesting.. so talented. I know where you get it from. I love the movie, the world’s fastest Indian! So much so I almost bought one. I am so behind in your videos.. but have been watching since the beginning.
OH DAMN!!! Parlay has to keep that shark bite, talk about adding character to the boat hahaha. I would show everyone that sails by... Great white sharks and Kiwi birds to add to the whales, dolphins, manta rays and what ever else Parlay has seen. Another great Episode.
Love this episode! Thanks Colin and crew! XO
12:23 - letting out the sail drive caramel
If anyone wants to see a great white in person just come to South Australia and swim in our local beaches, doesnt even matter how shallow 😂
theres not a chance id ever leave my dogs...for anything...anywhere...
There's good reason why the sign says, "Don't feed the animals."
Colin you are a celebrity hun! You worked hard to be where you are and deserve everything good that happens ! Cheers sweet man
Everybody complaining about chumming the water and how “reckless/dangerous to humans” it is is (as usual) uninformed. This could be long but here’s some facts… 1) Chumming the water from boats and shore has been going on for CENTURIES. If it was going to cause more shark attacks it would’ve happened long ago 2) Sharks aren’t mindless. They are very aware that the chum/food is very different/separate from the humans in the cage. Even outside the cage, they would still know the difference. However, working them into a feeding frenzy then swimming with them would just be stupid. Don’t pet eating Lions either 3) Shark attacks have a near zero probability while also having around 85% survival rate. And half of all fatalities are provoked.. stupid games stupid prizes. 4) Things deadlier than sharks include… eating, crossing the road, significant others, lightning, driving, flying, boating, jet skiing, rip tides, swimming, jellyfish, ants, horses, deer, even dogs, and ofcourse, humans. 5) Finally, Bc I know it’ll come up, the increased attacks in/around Florida was not due to chumming. It was a direct result of a few charters in the Bahamas doing “shark dives” and hand feeding the sharks to bring them close. Unsurprisingly sharks started expecting humans to hand them fish and began biting those that didn’t. The stupid actions of a few affected an entire region and thankfully it’s been stopped.
Plot twist: They where very happy to see the boats and wanted to huddle.
Aww, poor Katie, she made the perfect choice of tranquiliser - cuddling the dog! All the very best to her!
Wow- great whites are just amazing and beautiful! You can’t help but respect sharks and especially the great white. What an amazing and possibly once in a lifetime experience guys!
Very exciting!
Irma survivor here. Been watching you forever Colin. Thanks for approaching this topic with such care and thought of the people who went through this disaster. Cheers bro.
This was one of best. Question: have you got your pups back on board? Hope to see them soon.
Wow! What a wonderful experience for y’all! Fyn Alee
A groovy episode all the way around. Feeding Great White Sparks for the entertainment of tourists is a bit irresponsible, because it can put both humans and the sparks in danger. Unfortunately some humans don't care about this problem, because, hey mate, there's money to be made.
Parlay what a mesmerising episode. Being on the team Canada boat, watch NZ take the W on home soil. Beers with the boys…. Seems like bucket list items for 10 lifetimes! Great job Colin and crew…
What an episode, how are you able to do these amazing things all the time… brilliant
Thanks for this beautiful pictures of the Great White 🦈 !
Sad to see how much scarring that shark has on his nose and all the other injuries. Can only assume the nose damage is from them ramming the cages. Once again we're damaging wildlife. Please stop the cage diving. It's not natural or healthy.
I was waiting for you to feed them by hand? Kind of like the ducks at local park❤😅😅
Colin you are spot on about whether cage diving is a good thing. As a geriatric surfer I have total respect for any sharks especially as they are known to follow the migrating whales off the East coast of OZ, and the surfer that died off Greenmount following a white attack is a prime example of collateral damage. A surf buddy from way back that has worked on the 'Rodney Fox' cage dive boat out of Port Lincoln SA has amazing pics but like you Colin I personally believe the whites start to associate boats with food. Only a surfer 'knows the feeling.'
Jirre 😂😂
Great video.. but they are all.. this one got me though. 💝
Just remember.. misery loves company.. I think the negative trolls are just miserable people in general.
Amazing experiences as always. Thank you for sharing 🤙🏻
I kinda felt the channel would struggle after making the crossing. Boy was I completely wrong. The New Zealand visit has been spectacular. This Great White episode is absolutely epic!
I can't believe with all the horror stories and damaged rudders, that you guys would subject your boat to such risks.
I just heard and actually seen a video short of 2 brother Orcas that have recently moved into the area. That are double teaming and attacking Great Whites and killing them!
Such a cool experience. Thank you for sharing!
How is the solar production? Going to be able to replace the damaged panel? How much did that affect the overall production?
Mushroom of the sea
amazing shark footage.....
No one can say you have a boring life.
What an amazing experience Kia Kaha Colin
Man this is so cool! I mean terrifying, but so so so cool!
Colin you will be my hero if you were to show some of our beautiful country South Africa!! 🇿🇦 I tap my hat to you Sir Colin!! My first comment, but I’ve been following since you rebuilt the 465. Side note: you are not allowed to harvest abalone (aka perlemoen in Afrikaans) in SA. Bummer though they are delicious! Safe sailings 🤙🏼
As a surfer I hate cage diving to feed great whites. Your training them to eat people folks
grabby shark tourist operaters teaching tricks for tuna(?) chunks
Can someone who still lives in NZ make this make sense? An ocean race day gets cancelled because there are dolphins in the water(go figure), but yet, you can chum the water for great whites about 50 meters off the shoreline, so that they associate floating boaty looking things with food!
Wearing way more clothes than winter at -30C.
Re: Thoughts on the sharks. Feeding any wildlife is ill advised. Especially to the point that it changes their behavioural patterns.
I´ve drunk there bought a lobster fisher a handle, he threw ashore a bag of lobsters when I was staying at the Edmond Hillary hut up north on the island. Great pub
Nope I wouldn’t eat that! Love the kiwis!!!!!
fuuuuu** I'm not going in that water after seeing those monsters!!
Well the locals normally kill a few and leave them on the bottom so they don't hang around for the tourism companies. Controversial as topic for the area
Amazing episode! One adventure after another.
Thanks for watching Michael!
